The myths of Ranginui and Papatūānuku, the Sky Father and the Earth Mother of Māori legend, and the creation myth of their godly children can be compared to that of Kronos and Rhea, the Greek titan of time and titan of fertility, and their own children's birth.
Upon their birth, Ranginui and Papatūānuku’s sons were held tightly between the two, with no space to move or roam as the parents held each other tightly. Soon the sons began to anger as they wanted to have their own space to grow beyond the limitations of their parents, and they began to try and push their parents apart. Each son tried and tried by themselves, until their son Tānemahuta, who became the god of the forest, separated his parents from each other by pushing them apart with his legs rather than his hands like his brothers had tried. He forced his father into becoming the above and the sky, while his mother stayed as the earth, and with their separation came light.
Before the birth of Kronos’ children, he was told of a prophecy of his son overthrowing his reign. As his next child was born, a daughter, in his paranoia he ate the first child, Hestia. He continued to eat each child as Rhea birthed them. Upon the birth of Zeus, Rhea decided to instead present Kronos with rocks swaddled in blankets, while her newborn rested safely on the isle of Krete. He knew nothing of it, and years later, Zeus, his son, would return to free his siblings. He tricked Kronos into digesting poisoned wine and in turn, his father regurgitated all of his siblings who returned to Zeus’ side to oppose the titan's reign.
These myths can be compared through their messages of how the godly children escaped their parents to come into their power by separating them and defying their father. Their mother, who are both at least associated with the earth, are left to be close to their children, while the father is cast away. It is only once one specific son in each of these myths defies their father on their own do the siblings become free of imprisonment to escape and come into great power as they leave their parent's shadows to become greater than them.

Multiple Intelligences and Growth and Fixed Mindsets
What does multiple intelligences mean, and how do they tie into growth and fixed mindsets?
The idea of multiple intelligences proposes the idea that there are more facets of intelligence rather than the standard ability. As defined by Gardner, there are eight (sometimes nine) facets of intelligence such as:- Kinesthetic
- Interpersonal
- Visual
- Linguistic
- Mathematical
- Naturalistic
- Intrapersonal
- Musical
- (And occasionally) Existential
This is highly different than how people usually categorise intelligence. To others, intelligence is reading and writing, maths, and science. While being intelligent can include this, it is not the only form of intelligence, especially since reading and writing, and maths are not even categorised as the same form of intelligence.
Personally, I find that after a self-reflection and three different quizzes, linguistics is my highest level of intelligence. I also found intrapersonal, existential, and mathematical to rank high. Two of my lowest ranking intelligence types are naturalistic and musical.
If an aspect is low ranking, it does not mean that you cannot improve upon these skills. This is where the idea of growth and fixed mindsets. A growth mindset is where someone is willing and capable of developing talent through practice and can acknowledge that failing is a step to success. A fixed mindset is where someone believes that talent is something you are born with and that cannot be changed, most often these people are scared of failure so they do not try or attempt new things.
By having a growth mindset, one can acknowledge what they are bad at and practice to improve themselves. This is why it is better to have a growth mindset. Someone with a growth mindset can set to improve themselves and see failure as something good; with failure comes the knowledge of what not to do when you try again. Having a growth mindset allows someone to be capable of improving at what they are bad at without the fear of being bad or needing to improve for the sake of others, like how someone with a fixed mindset may feel.

Visual Arts
This year I will be focussing on cityscape/landscape as my kaupapa (concept). This theme is something I have chosen because I want to expand my artistic views. I usually base my artwork on a sole subject without any more scenery and this is why is have chosen this kaupapa. The media I would like to work with is sketching, photography and (potentially) printing. I may change these over time depending on how I want to focus my subjects and my methods, but these are the ones I am interested in.
The two artists I've chosen from 1.1 list one are Sofia Minson and Robyn Kahukiwa and from list two are Claude Monet and Sheperd Fairey.

The artist I am interested in for my kaupapa is either Photo Roman or Rinko Kawauchi. These are some of my notes to do with our kaupapa and subject matter:
I would like to work with flowers, backgrounds and silhouettes of people as my subject matter. I believe I can create effective meaning through my art with these as my subject of choice.

Arthritis
Arthritis, also known as joint inflammation, is a condition where bones that are a component of joints wear away the cartilage in between themselves and begin to rub against each other, wearing the bones. The result of this can be developments such as swelling, pain and stiffness in the joint itself. Although, these are just more basic forms of the symptoms and there are many others that come and go with the different forms of the disease. Over long times arthritis of all forms will begin to make daily tasks a struggle, with arthritis in the knees it will become difficult to perform tasks like climbing stairs and walking on upward or downward slopes. If you have arthritis in your elbow you may find it difficult to bend your arm and hold items.
There are over one hundred different forms of arthritis, but the two most common forms are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis, which call also be known as 'wear-and-tear' arthritis, is the most well-known form of arthritis. It begins with the bones in the joint wearing away at the joint itself, whether it be through over-exercise, an injury, or obesity, pressure is put against the ends of the bones and wears away at the cartilage. After the cartilage has been worn away the bones rub up against each other, without the cartilage there to stop them from doing so, the bones press and chip away at each other, leaving shards of bone inside the arm itself. Rheumatoid arthritis, while similar to osteoarthritis, is in itself, something almost completely different when it comes to how it happens. The origin of the disease comes from when, for an unknown reason, the immune system, which usually would protect us from viruses and bacteria, instead attacks the joints. Due to this the tissue that lines the joints, known as the synovium, tends to thicken, resulting in swelling. If this goes unchecked and is ignored, the cartilage, like in osteoarthritis, breaks away and the bones soon chip away at each other, often resulting in weaker and unstable joints, in rarer cases joint deformity and many other unfortunate circumstances.
There are many different things that contribute to the development of any form of arthritis, however, there are a few main factors that add to the risk of getting arthritis.
Genetics, the disease, in all forms, has been noticed to transition through genetic or family bloodlines. Injuries, if left unacknowledged, joint injuries, even if they appear to be alright and treated properly, can soon develop arthritis if the joint is repeatedly injured and constantly has weight on it.
Weight, if the skeleton endures an unhealthy amount of weight on the joints it can press the bones in the joints closer together, letting the cartilage wear away even quicker than the anticipated rate for more common forms of arthritis.
Age, it has been identified with arthritis that people over 65 have an around fifty percent chance to develop the disease in their joints if they haven't experienced it or are experiencing it already.
Repetitive actions, such as lifting boxes from one place to another, applies constant strain onto the joints in use, especially if it is for an extended period and then the person proceeds to lay down and not exercise the joints or use them.
Gender, arthritis has been found to be common in women than men, although there is no scientific diagnosis as to why this happens.
There are many myths surrounding arthritis and how you can get it, especially one of the more common ones like 'If you crack your knuckles, you will get arthritis', this is in fact, false. My science teacher told me so so you can bring it up with him. But, there are many other myths surrounding arthritis and how it can affect your body. There are other myths than the ones I will bring up here, if you wish to look over the others they will be from the sources I will have.

- Only older people get arthritis, this is incorrect. There are over 300,000 cases of infants, children, and teenagers, having the disease in its different forms in their earlier stages of life.
- All pain in the joints is arthritis, this is incorrect. There are other conditions such as tendonitis and even in some cases, it can be simple as soft tissue damage that can appear to be arthritis at first.
- Taking it easy is the best thing for arthritis, this is incorrect. Regular exercise without overuse of the joint can be helpful to treat the joint, it is not a cure though.
- There is nothing you can do about arthritis, this is incorrect. While there is not an absolute cure for arthritis, regular exercise, reducing weight, having both time to relax and time to be active, sleeping well and having a healthier diet can assist, but not provide any medical cure, with arthritis.
- Applying heat to the joint is better than applying ice, this is incorrect. Both elements can help with the pain of arthritis in different situations, heat can be better for joints in the mornings while icing the pain can be more helpful before going to sleep. Both assist in dealing with the pain though.

My Performance
The first performance of Music, a nerve racking experience.
I had worked with my friends, Kayne and Kristie, at first tried to wright a song from scratch, but it didn't work out so we changed it, in the end we did a originally written mash up of
Shape of you (by Ed Sheeran)
Say you won't let go (by James Arthur)
Kayne made a beat using a app on his phone, Kristie played the guitar to Shape of you, And I sang the song.
I felt like keeping up with the guitar was one of the problems I had while making the song and singing it at times.
I think I was happy with everything in the song and the performance and I may have changed a few of the lyrics but other than that I was happy with it.
